Do you have AAA to tow your car? Have you had it for at least 3 years? If so,you should bump it up to AAA Plus. With AAA Plus you can get your car towed 100 miles for free. I can't tell you how many times I've asked those simple questions of a customer who was broken down. I tell them to call AAA and upgrade their regular AAA to AAA plus so they can get that free long distance tow.
From what I've heard though, AAA has instituted a wait period for a couple of days before you can get that first tow so my advice would be to make that call today BEFORE you break down. There really is nothing worse than being stuck on the side of the road and too far from your local garage. This can make a huge difference. Now I'm not saying that you simply get the car taken to any authorized AAA center without doing your due diligence on repair shops. Remember that any shop can rip you off, AAA or not. So go check reviews and make phone calls just like you would normally before taking your car in. Remember the point of this post is to get you towed from further away for free and preferably to your preferred shop.
